You can improve your profitability …. but how?

People buy pictures. In fact, with 24 million households in the UK, each with several rooms, each with four walls in need of something to liven them up: people buy a lot of pictures!

If you’re selling your work at the moment, you could probably be selling more and if you’re not yet selling, you definitely could be. Once you start selling, ‘like it or not: you’re in business, and in business you need to be professional and you need to do certain things to be successful.

I appreciate that you haven’t become an artist so that you can run a business and I can assure you that if that was the case, there are easier ways to make money. However, selling your work is much more than paying for materials or framing and it’s much more than justifying the time you spend making art – it validates your work! When you sell a painting, you form a partnership with the buyer, based upon a shared understanding or communication, embodied by the work itself. Sell and grow as an artist!

Some readers will doubtless know all of this and be doing things in some or all of these areas, and some may be be doing nothing.
