The 40 x 45cm Size is unique to Pictureframes.uk - designed specifically to accommodate a Paper-cut or other artwork with the whole artwork visible. The size of the Aperture in the front of the frame i.e. the part of the artwork visible from the front, is 388mm x 438mm
The Frame is made from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified Ash. The corners are joined using our superior “Butterfly” joints which are considerably stronger than the underpins used by other frame-makers. The frame moulding is 21mm wide and 34mm deep.
The frame is sanded but otherwise un-finished. You may like to finish the frame and any wood finish can be used such as stains, varnishes, clear wax or coloured waxes. Limed Ash is very popular and can be achieved with a single application liming wax.
This Double Glass Frame is designed to accommodate a Papercut or any other art work which benefits from being sandwiched between two pieces of glass. The frame is fitted with two pieces of 2mm float glass. The pressure in the glass is usually enough to hold the papercut or other artwork in place but occasionally a small blob of glue on the back will make sure that nothing moves.
The frames are fitted with brass turn-buttons and a spacer at the back so as to be able to remove the glass but so that no fittings show from the front. For the same reason, the hangers are fitted to the back of the frame out of sight.
Print and fit option
If you choose this option, we will ask you to supply a digital image file of sufficient quality to print at the required size - once you have an order number, you will be able to send it by email, dropbox, wetransfer etc..
We will then print the image(s) out on Canon SmatMatt 180gsm. FSC® Certified Photo-Paper, using our state of the art Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8400 printer with it’s LUCIA EX 12 Colour Pigment Ink system.
We print the image at 328 x 378mm - smaller than the aperture in the frame so that the image floats in the frame with the wall showing through the glass for a 30mm border all around it.
Once printed, we float your image into the frame, between the two pieces of glass with the clear 30mm border around it. The finished picture will arrive with you (or whoever you send it to) professionally finished and ready to hang on the wall.
